Greythorn Studio Works started in a consulting room, not a startup.
Our founder is a working surgeon who got tired of paying monthly for software that was slow, bloated, and built to keep him subscribed rather than to get his work done. It had features nobody asked for, upsells in places that should have been quiet, and prices that rose every year while the product stayed the same.
So he started building his own: small, sharp tools that each do one job properly. Colleagues asked if they could use them too. That’s the studio.
Our rules are short:
- No ads, ever. You are the customer, not the product.
- Buy it once, it’s yours. No subscriptions and no renewals. Most of what we make is a single one-off purchase. The version you buy keeps working forever, and you get free updates for the life of that major version, every 1.x release included.
- Pay for what you use. If a tool genuinely costs us money every time you use it, such as cloud processing, you pay for that usage and nothing more. You never pay just because a month has passed.
- Simple, and done well. We’d rather ship one tool that’s excellent than ten that are fine.
- Your data stays yours. Local-first wherever possible.
We build software we rely on ourselves, every day, in work where mistakes matter.
